It was a clear day when we drove to Jump Rock and we were able to see four states from this promontory. Thankfully the wind was blowing and had blown the recent haze away. It is worth the drive up the mountain.
My husband and I came here in mid-October, hoping to see the trees changing color. Unfortunately, not much yet. And with the drought we are in, one of the local meteorologists, said the trees may go from green to brown, without showing much in the way of pretty fall colors. Well, if that happens, we still got a gorgeous view... 更多
Winding drive to the park but well worth it. Spectacular views from the stone scenic area. If you're in Hendersonville, NC, take the short trip up on a clear day, you won't be disappointed.
I often take first-time visitors to our new mountain home to do some shopping in Hendersonville, and then I'll say... "come with me, I'd like to show you why we moved to the Blue Ridge!" we proceed west on 5th Ave up through Laurel Park to "The Rock" and watch them gasp in awe!
I was visiting in the neighborhood so I could walk - uphill - to Jump Off Rock. On a clear day, the view is spectacular and in the morning the valley fills up with clouds below a sunny sky. There are various walking trails which are tempting because they are all downhill. But returning would have to be the reverse.... 更多
This is our third visit to this spot - this time it was to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We wanted to take the easy Blue Trail but didn't have time. You drive up to the end of Laurel Pkwy and pass beautiful homes along the way. The drive up is curvy but shaded and pleasant. Parking is close to the... 更多
Short hikes in and around this site. Stayed locally and hiked to the summit. Can also ride bikes to this spot (up is rough, down is fast!). Have fun
Quiet reflection on your day goes well with a magnificent view of sunset across the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west. Close to Hendersonville up Laurel Parkway. Make no excuses for not going. This small park is free.
Lovely mini-park in Hendersonville. It's at the top of a mountain and has sweeping views of the Blue Ridge, on par with the best overlooks on the Parkway. A few minutes away from Echo Mountain Lodge. Very twisting road to get up there, so don't go if you are in a huge vehicle.
If you want to see the Blue Ridge in its glory, go here. You will see 180 degree mountains and a breath taking view. The rock is supposedly haunted by the ghost of an Indian maiden who thought her husband killed in battle. She jumped off the rock (hence the name) and then he came to find her, realized she... 更多
