Owned and operated by an educational charity, Woody Bay Station is an original Lynton & Barnstaple Railway station, opened in 1898, and closed along with the rest of the railway in September 1935. Purchased by us in 1995, what you can see today at the station is just the beginning of an exciting project to rebuild one of the world's most famous and picturesque narrow gauge railways; the legendary Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. The ideal starting point for a two mile round trip through some of the loveliest countryside in North Devon, Woody Bay Station is the place to board our little narrow gauge train for a journey back in time. You might just see our resident buzzard flying overhead or perhaps a hare or sometimes even a deer as you experience the sights of heather-covered hills and wooded valleys of North Devon – on clear days you can see all the way across to Wales – not to be missed! All trains run to Killington Lane Halt, where you can if you wish, leave the train and walk to other local destinations - including the lovely local village of Parracombe, home to our nearest Pub - the Fox & Goose (open most days - but best to check first). Alternatively for those with more stamina - the Hunters Inn at Heddons Mouth is also highly recommended. When you are ready, walk back to Killington Lane Halt and catch a later train back to Woody Bay. Alternatively, stay on the train for the much more exciting return journey behind a hard-working steam engine up the 1 in 50 gradient to Woody Bay.Time to spare? As your ticket permits you to travel as many times as you wish on the day, several of our visitors come to the station in the morning - have a train ride, something to eat or drink and then go on to visit somewhere else. Later in the day they come back for another trip. Works very well for those families whose children need to be persuaded to leave! You can stay on site or on our trains for as long as you like all day at no extra charge. Savour one of our Devon Cream Teas with home-baked scones or a luscious hand-made sandwich or slice of cake.Visit us in the winter when you can cosy-up to our real coal fire whilst enjoying a bowl of warming home-made soup.Outside - feel free to use our tea gardens, lawns, picnic area and platforms - all are a perfect place to relax and enjoy the magnificent views of the rolling Devon countryside - have a picnic, play with the children or just sit and watch the trains go by.2014 Return Fares Adult:- £7.50Child (aged 5 -14):- £3.00*Family (2 adults and up to 3 children):- £18Senior Citizens (Over 65):- £6.001st Class Upgrade £3.00 Return (per person)*Children under 5 accompanied by fare-paying adults travel Free Single Fares are also available. Once purchased, tickets allow for unlimited travel on the day - subject to availability of space on the trains. You can leave and return later if you like or stay with us all day.We offer a 50% discount if you return for a visit and travel any time within the next 28 days. Just retain your ticket.A Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway Ticket (purchased within the last 7 days) entitles you to a 10% discount. Access to the station, shop, toilets and parking is completely free, except during some Special Events when other conditions may apply including an entrance fee. Please enquire if you are unsure. We suggest that you allow approximately 40 minutes for a single visit including a train journey.

This is the shortest railway I have visited, just a mile long, but a nice pleasant journey through lovely Devon countryside. There are some plans displayed showing a planned extension of the railway which will be good when completed. You can travel all day if you wish, we just made 2 journeys! The coaches originally built in the 19th century... 更多

Lovely restored carriages, well maintained by the volunteers and staff. I thought it went further than it actually did, didn't take more than 5-6 mins up and then the train switched ends and we chugged back. Little one enjoyed it, though could have lasted a bit longer, too short a track. I believe they have plans to extend. Don't expect... 更多

For many years we have driven past this little gem but this year decided to go in and visit. We had tea and cake whilst waiting for the train. The staff are very nice and knowledgeable, especially with a particular query I had. They hope to extend the railway so the price is reflected on enhancement of this attraction.

Stopped here in July 2016, we are glad we did, the whole station is run by volunteers who have turned the Station into a place worth visiting. The train only goes for two miles to Parracombe but it is through some lovely Devon countryside. For £20.00 you can ride on the footplate and relive a childhood dream. Nice station cafe... 更多

We visited as a group of volunteers from another steam railway and we usually get a good welcome. But this was something else.Everyone - from the man in the ticket office, the guard, the locomotive crew and the staff in the cafe gave us a huge welcome. Yes - it isn't far at the moment but your fare goes into... 更多

Called in on the way back from Exmoor with my grandaughter. Lovely cafe and short rail trip. We paid a little extra for first class and bagged the observation compartment at the end of the train which gave a great view of the loco on the outward leg, and of the countryside on the return.

Short Line (currently) with ambitious plans to expand. Well kept Narrow gauge railway running on the route of the Lynton and Barnstable railway. Very friendly and enthusiastic volunteers make it a perfect visit for an afternoon. Plenty of places to have a picnic and watch the train roll by. If available it is worth paying the extra for the footplate... 更多

Really nice and friendly. Everything immaculate including the restored carriages, the tea room and the station. Lovely place to visit for a full hours. I am a steam nerd but the people I dragged along with me also had a great time!

I've shot past this place a few times, always meaning to stop off and this time I did. There was no train in sight when we arrived so we headed for the sunlit garden of the cafe. A cream tea was a must and I was surprised by the lightness of the scones; certainly the best in the area. Apart... 更多

Only a narrow gauge that is currently a 2 mile round trip (basically up the 1 mile track and back) but they have massive plans to extend and hopefully have it running from Dartmouth to Lynton again. I always support these projects when out and about touring the UK, they are worth keeping.
