We have the intial problem that 'Coleridge lived here' for barely three years, followed by the over 200 year history of the cottage from then to now, during which, it has had many other lives and uses, including hostelry and an inn, had its roof raised, had extensions et al. What with the most recent refurbishments by The National Trust,... 更多
I had wanted to visit this cottage for many years, but we had never been in the area at the right time. As it was we arrived at about 4pm on a Saturday, so had just an hour to look around before it closed. We toured the ground floor before going out into the garden and then back into a... 更多
Visited here as the weather was a bit chilly and the cottage is indoors. It was filled with information about Coleridge with activities for children too. The man who welcomed us was in period costume and was very knowledgeable about his subject. He introduced the cottage well and was able to answer questions too. It was a very interesting place... 更多
Coleridge Cottage is a small 17th century cottage, the home of Samuel Coleridge for three years starting in 1797. Now, it's been transformed by the National Trust and is more impressive. Great little gem. Sweet and interesting, and the volunteers deserve medals. Full of all the facts that you would need. Also, not just for literary buffs, also good for history buffs and the clothing exhibition in the outside room was fabulous. The lady knew her stuff and made the experience that more enjoyable. Definitely going again....AT CHRISTMAS!!!
Although visited the area many times before never been here but glad we did visit this time, very interesting and very well done also on our visit very busy.
I was so thrilled to actually be in this cottage where Coleridge composed his epic poem "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" which I have loved since we studied it at school. I bought some books which were on display. The staff are so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and obviously love their subject. The cottage is well laid out and retains... 更多
The whole family enjoyed our visit to Coleridge Cottage. We felt immediately welcomed by the friendly on site team who were keen to help us learn about Coleridge. They engaged with our children (9 and 6) straight away and gave them the children's trail as well as a short introduction to the poet. We were then given more information about... 更多
Very interesting property once lived in by the poet Samuel Coleridge. It is small by comparison to other places but the staff have made huge efforts to make it welcoming and interesting with lots of information to read and listen to in the house and the gardens behind. It is not possible to get into the property in a wheelchair... 更多
