A whole lot of reviews of the town of Solin are actually reviews of the archeological site of Salona, which is located in modern Solin. Solin is a sleepy, quiet suburb of Split, with mostly residential houses and not much to do or see other than the ruins of ancient Salona.
We saw three parts to this site. On the uphill side near the parking lot is the ruins of an early Christian church - interesting to walk through and see all the old sarcophagi (I wonder where all the bodies went). City of Solin is very close to the city of Split, with taxi it took about 5 minutes. We really like it because it is very clean and great for morning jogging.
Solin is the town where the Salona roman ruins are located. We spent 2 and half hours at the ruins and saw all of it except for some sections of the wall (we figured the sections we saw were representative) and the Necropolis of Marusinac (this is separate from the others and we simply missed it).
