My husband and I love historic sites, this was a very cool one to see, reading all the facts to learn more about the history of Bacalar was interesting it is definitely take the time to go, it is not crowded and it's cheap to go.
If you love history and have an interest in fortifications this is a wonderful example of military science and architecture that should not be missed. The museum has some scellent pièces and very informative text.
The fortress is a nice stop if you are on your way to Belize. The entrance is significantly cheaper for the people with mexican nationality, as if they wanted to discourage tourism :D Nobody speaks much english here, but it is worth it. It is not crowded at all and after you are done with the tour, you can continue... 更多
The place is magical. It is amazing to find a fort like this close to a first class lake in such a simple humble town.
We spent about an hour touring this. I found it very interesting. Lots of historical facts to learn about the Pirates. The view from the top is awesome also. It's very inexpensive to tour the museum. Take your camera for some awesome pictures. I recommend it. it's very easy to find in Bacalar. Across from town square.

I am pleased to report that this is not the case at the San Felipe... 更多
It has am excellent museum exhibit where you can get a bit of history lesson about the place learn about pirates, boats the spanish conquest and more. It was a shame no one was taking care of the exhibition and there was kids running and touching everyhting including a small boat model.
