During our private tour to Vienna woods, we have visited this beautiful abbey. It was a Cistercian monastry founded in 1113 and the medieval architectural designs thereat together with the many stained glass windows therein were breath-taking. The place was quiet and we also have the time to visit a small session of the internal part as well as the... 更多

This is a Medieval Abby founded in 1113. It is a Cistercian monastery in the village of Heilingenkreuz in the southern part of the Vienna woods. It is the oldest continuously occupied Cistercian monastery in the world. Very impressive.
An obligatory stop in a Vienna Wood trip - really interesting and beautiful place. Ancient abbey is still breathing with the medieval air. Must see.
I visited here as part of an organised day tour from Vienna and it was wonderful. The detail in the architecture and stained glass windows was fabulous. We spent about an hour here and I'd absolutely recommend it if you appreciate art and architecture.

Our guide told us a lot about the history of the Abbey, and guided us along a hallway overlooking a courtyard. There were many small chapels and a lecture room along the way. The church was very... 更多
This was a highlight of our trip to Vienna. One of the oldest Cistercian monasteries in Europe. Great tour and chance to attend vespers in the chapel. Fascinating.

We visited this Abbey as part of a day tour of the Vienna woods and Mayerling. It was very charming to see the Abbey covered in snow. It is a nice place to visit if it is part of a tour but to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure that we would have driven for an hour outside of Vienna... 更多
