I was brought here by my brilliant hosts and now good friends when I was on holiday in July. I have always planned to see Ardboe cross and church when I was staying with friends in Dungannon but as found out it would have been difficult to get to by bus and i would have had to walk miles to...
I'd like to have this as my eternal resting space. Impressive altogether, but truly only worth it on a warm sunny day with maybe a pack lunch. If you're stuck for time though, I think twice about it. Great though for those new to photo - lots of interesting angles and lighting fun.
The 6th century Cross is highly decorated & very well preserved. There are some interesting gravestones & Abbey ruins. It's a little out of the way, but worth a visit. Other reviewers mentioned swarms of mosquitoes, but we didn't see any at the end of May.
Centuries old Celtic Cross overlooking Lough Neagh. National Treasure. Off the beaten tourist trail, you have to seek this out. No literature available but you can research it on line before or after your visit.
