We went up the sesselbahn from Rüdesheim, visited the Niederwalddenkmal, and walked for about 30 minutes to the chairlift. Near the lift was a fenced area with a few deer. Some middle school kids were feeding the deer with food from a vending machine. Trip down on the chairlift was nice. We heard a cuckoo bird as we went down.... 更多
I am petrified of heights but found this activity just about possible going up the chair lift never seems that far from the ground and again going down in the cable car if I look up not as frightening but the area is so beautiful the forest walk was breathtaking and in summer it would be even better the morning... 更多
One of my local cousins did an excellent job of providing a tour of this area. So for those of you that like to walk take the Seilbahn from Rudesheim up to this statue then walk on the paths on top of the hill and take the other Seilbahn down to Assmannhausen and then the ferry back to Rudesheim. We took the Assmannshausen Chairlift to Jaeger Schloss, took a pleasant 1.5 Km walk to the Niederwald Denkmal for nice views of the Rhine river and then took the cable car down to the center of Ruedeshreim. A nice experience, for all 6 of us. The cable lifts run from 10 AM to 6 PM. Later we all took the... 更多

First time I had experienced being on a Chairlift and have to say I enjoyed it. The weather was fantastic and a lovely feeling looking down on the vineyards etc.
After visiting the Niederwald Monument we walked along the road to the chairlift down to Assmannshausen......OMG the chairlift appears to be rather gentle moving along at a steady pace through the trees..........then......you suddenly come to the top of the descent......panic, panic, white knuckles, feeling extremely nervous, yet awe struck with the unbelievable views, whilst gripping the bar for dear life,... 更多
After walking 21km of the Rheinsteig taking the chairlift down to Assmannshausen was a joy. The staff both ends were very helpful when getting on and off especially with a backpack and tired legs. Look forward to going up next time we continue the Rheinsteig.
The Rudesheim chairlift entrance is conveniently located in mid-town on a busy shopping street (by the Kathy Wohlfahrt Christmas store) so it is neither difficult to find nor needing an extra trip to get to. I liked the semi-enclosed cable cars which seated 2 adults comfortably on padded seats. The cars have open sides (no windows) which allowed us to... 更多
