Stop there to visit the castle and it was a nice surprise to find as well a lovely beach. If you go at Frangokastello, you can enjoy the view on the castle from the beach as the visit does not give much more.
Safe for the children, we all had a nice time there. the temperature of the water was...
Nothing to see, the castle has no boards to even read anything about it, lost our time, castle in heraklion is much better! Beach preveli is much better!) Better choose another place ti visit while you are on Crete, the road is hard with serpantins!
We were looking for a nudist beach, which this beach is not but found a small hole between the rocks to sunbathe nude. Clear water, hard sand which is nice to walk on. A very good taverna with great service on the middle of the beach. If you are terrified of hights do not go. I almost went to sit...
Only the courtyard of the castle is accessible by wheelchair. Good think we didn't have to pay entrance fee. Castle is small and after 10 min you have seen it. The beach isn't the best beach I would recommend other places. There is a big tavern but it's expensive.
This is a lovely beach which is clean and tidy. There a several cafes and tavernas along the stretch of beach. The life guards there seemed a bit too enthusiastic; they preferred it if no one was swimming in the sea as it presumably gave them less work. It's a huge beach so there's loads of space.
I strongly appreciated the beaches before (west side) the Castle, are smaller but less crowded than the Castle Beach or the Dunes Beach.
Follow the short path just in front of the Mini Market, 100m by car and park. On the right you are on the beach!
