Really recommend a side trip to Southwell to see this beautiful cathedral. It is huge but packed full of great ancient and modern artworks as well as a real feeling of peace and serenity. Particularly look out for the sculptures by Peter Ball, there are 5 of them! The main one being the Christus Rex, the open arm Christ -... 更多
I need to tell you that I'm an atheist. Having said that, this place is truly sublime - if ever a church was built to the glory of the god of its believers, this is it. The various staff and volunteers here are extremely helpful and work hard to help you get the most out of your visit. It was... 更多
This was a lovely visit the Minster has some beautiful windows and carvings. However our visit was made more enjoyable by the number of junior school children learning about the church and how it has grown over the years, the guides were obviously making it interesting for them (and us). The minister staff were friendly and informative.
There is a 2hr free car park opposite the Minister ideal for a visit. The surrounding gardens are well kept and the church is a lovely place to visit, i was taken back by the beautiful stained windows. The little chapel is quaint and the stone carvings are beautiful. If you are planning on taking photographs there is a £5.00... 更多
This is a wonderful example of early English ecclesiastical architecture which no one passing within 20 miles of Southwell should miss. The Chapter House is a gem and the Archbishop's Palace with its Great Hall worth extending your visit to see. It is all free but you should make a contribution....
Enjoyed the building and the tranquiity. Not massive but the oldest Norman nave parts etc were very atmospheric. Chapter House and few other side chapels to explore. Allow an hour to visit. No charge but recommended voluntary gifts appreciated
Must see Arch Bishops palace and garden (out the back) too - easily missed! Recently revamped and beautifully interpreted. Minster has beautiful stained glass, interesting art works and fantastic stone carving in Chapter House, all for free! or a donation.
