This is such a special place in the South Rift Valley of Kenya, off Magadi Road, which is one of the worst roads you'll ever attempt to drive on, it is too often overlooked. Not only is it the location of some of the most talented Maasai beaders in Kenya - the Olorgesailie Maasai Women Artisans, but it also is...
Though there are no human fossils there are lots of stone axes and other tools in the place (more or less) where the were found. If you go to Lake Magadi make sure to visit. If you only want to see the site you have to be an expert or more than average motivated. Roads are pretty horrible. Take water.
Dry lakebed exposes ancient tools made 800,000 years ago by our hominid ancestors. Blows your mind!
The site is hot so please make sure to wear a hat, sunscreen and bring plenty of water (cold sodas can also be bought).
Great place to visit to see bones and tools used by early humans.
The drive to the place is almost treacherous...not for the faint of heart :). Good place to disconnect from the grid. The bandas are sufficient for sleep. Wonderful nightly sounds and beautiful starry sky blanket :)
Plenty of bird life!
Very hot and dusty in the summers....
