The fort is the second largest Danish fort after Kronborg and is recently renovated though the artifacts inside the museum needs serious maintenance, A good place for history lovers which is located near the shore ,One can still feel the historical importance on the streets of Danish settlement leading to the fort!!! Interesting place!!
My rating is for the Fort and not for how its maintained. Considering how we should take care of an old heritage site this place should have maintained better. The old stuff including vessels used and equipments etc are stored on shelves and are not in great condition with dust and cob webd covering them. is that the look they... 更多
I recently visited this with friends. This place is also called as Danish fort. There are many churches nearby and this place is ruled by the dutch in the past.Tranquebar showcases a plethora of cultures.A very beautiful beach is also located near the fort.Food and atm's are rare here.
Hi, being a Dane and staying in Chennai for almost 2 weeks, I couldn't hesitate to spend the week-end driving 6 hours south to see one of the few remains of Denmarks era of tradeposts and colonies. The fort is under restoration, but accessible and worth visiting. Small museum, that did need a loving restoring of the exhibits, but still... 更多

The Fort is very different from what you usually see in India, built right on coast. The architecture is also different. It was under renovation when we visited it. But the state it was in shows how we treat our heritage. a visit to a similar monument in Europe would actually take you back 300 years ago. But it's a... 更多
Fort is ok, can't be compared against any fort in Rajasthan or North India or the one in Hyderabad ... but it is a bit different, just on the sea shore ... some old documents are kept ... non-descript.
This is an excellent site which is undergoing rehabilitation. As usual nothing is done to educate/ inform the visiting public except for a label. Hope when the renovation work is done they place will be more interesting to visit. The sea view from this fort is worth the visit.
