The Abbey has an interesting and well preserved architecture. Its location on a small hill on the plain where the Ticino river flows and the context of a medioeval neighborhood makes it particularly fascinating and evocative of a far from today life time.
When we went it was cold, in fact it was snowing, but the building is beautiful and has that old world charm about it. Only downside despite the fact that we could only see part of the outside of it. Was the fact that we were subjected to Greensleeves on the bells at 5am.
We stayed in the hotel directly...
I came for a private visite to the fresco's and joint the workshop.
By intermediate of B&B Morimondo County I the foundation offerd me workshops miniature and fresco.
IT is worth to come back and follow the track of the Abbey
The basilica is rich with tiny treasures if you are lucky enough to find it open. Fortunately the XII century bricks structure has not been altered in the ages, it has some Gothic influence, its shape hasn't got the sweet Romanic style one would expect in that particular age.
