We stopped of here for a walk along the canal following a visit to nearby Chirk Castle. The aqueduct is built high over the Ceiriog Valley at Chirk - we walked southwards from Chirk Pool (in Wales) to well beyond the Bridge Inn (in England). The walk over the aqueduct is along a canal footpath that has safety rail, providing... 更多
Lots of people visit the Pontcysyllte aqueduct, but this one at Chirk, although smaller is also well worth a visit. You can walk between the two, but the canal does go through the longest tunnel, so those who may not be comfortable in the dark might find it a challenge. Good views of the local area and a pathway through... 更多
Been here a few times walking and what an amazing site . Well structured , and the size is amazing , there's plenty of foot path to walk and it's such a pretty place to watch the world go by . There's a tunnel you can walk through to which is not for the nervous to attempt !!! But very... 更多

As you can see from the photographs, there is no safety rail to one side, so one... 更多
Love places like this it's amazing how well they were built without the modern machinery, the aqueduct is very impressive and so is the tunnel, would suggest that people walk a bit further along the canal for some wonderful views
We recently walked along this canal and over the aqueduct, its a lovely walk and easy along the canal, the views from the aqueduct are fantastic. A fantastic piece of engineering and still strong despite its age. Well done Thomas Telford.
Chirk aqueduct is well worth visiting as it crosses over a beautiful valley and sits next to a railway viaduct giving added interest. You can park for free at the chirk end and walk down a short path to the basin. There is also the canal tunnel that you can walk though, this can also be accessed from the canal... 更多
You don't come across an aquaduct and viaduct like this every day. Very tranquil. Worth a walk. Parked in Poachers Pocket and walked up, carry on through the tunnel too, don't forget a torch!
