This historic center is located about 100 meters away from the place where 87 (or so) American POWs were executed by German SS troops. This was part of the Ardennes offensive, or battle of the Bulge, in the winter of '44. The museum tells the story about this offensive, and about the massacre in particular. There is a movie (highly... 更多
Opened in 2014. Lots of info about the slaughter of American POW's during the battle of the bulge 1944. The SS under the command of Peiper killed also lots of local inhabitants for no reason at all. All such a waste of innocent lives. Some good visual displays and film. Also nice small cafe on site. Good parking available for... 更多
Absolutely great museum with amazing subjects. Also, you can have audio guide what is good helper. Part of this museum is a very interesting shop where you can buy real things from WW2 but it is not cheap matter. Outside, next of the museum is a place where american prisoners were massacred.
Located on the crossroads where the Malmedy Massacre occured - interesting museum - audio guides in English, French, Dutch and German - allow 2 hours for visit. Closed on Monday's and Tuesdays - admission is 7.50 euros per adult
I would say for those of us that are interested in WWII, this is a great visit for about an hour. The tour is pretty much self guided but more than adequate. The collection of uniforms and weapons was excellent, wish I had them in my collection. All in all great for a Sunday afternoon.
if you ever watched the movie about 2nd wold war about art missing and an old movie on tanks you get to understand how much of this town was flattened
Drove to Malmedy because of family ties to a massacre survivor, and was delighted to find this museum next to the field where the event took place. The museum is extremely cool and the information gives a great amount of detail about the lead-up to the massacre. Wonderful exhibits, film, and audio guide. The restaurant on the first floor is... 更多
This is a must see for WWII experts. But take your time to appreciate the Great model display and audioguide. Cap it with the film. Revel in the field where the massacre took place and say a prayer or two for these heroes. We went to the December 44 battlefield afterwards. Worthwhile.
This is another excellent museum about the Battle of the Bulge. They will give you an audio guide, but don't let it push you through the museum too fast! Make sure you use the pause button and see al the displays and read the texts.
