We really enjoyed this sweet hike as a little sample of what New Hampshire has to offer...beautiful trees, creek, boulders, quiet, and a gorgeous view at the top.
I loved this hike, but it was a little more strenuous than I expected. I lot of straight up slides, but really incredible views! Trails are not difficult but do involve many stretches of steady uphill with continuous, incredible views. Some of the most interesting bare rock formations, ridges and ledges to be found anywhere! Did the loop in three... 更多
Though not even close to the highest peaks in the area this hike has some of the best views. Of the 4.4 miles on this loop a couple miles are above the tree line. If you are up for a shorter hike, the first open ledges are reached in about a mile with great views. This trail does get rather... 更多
Really well cared for trails and well marked. This mountain is described as a family hike and I feel that is misleading as there are sections that are very challenging. Additionally there is a lot of hiking across steep granite which would be quite slippery in wet weather. But on a dry day with older children and seasoned hikers the... 更多
This is a great day-hike to do in the Whites. Great views on the summits of Welch and Dickey, just don't get fooled by the first overlook being the summit (if you go counterclockwise), it gets more rugged from there. Also I would not rec going when it's been raining, there's a lot smooth faced granite that is quite slippery... 更多
I don't know how many times that I have hiked a trail in the mountains and have been disappointed by the lack of nice views. Well, this trail is the antidote. Along the trail, both mountains have numerous granite areas which open up the vistas for your enjoyment. On the other hand, I would not attempt this trail if wet.... 更多
Great hike for all ages, parking, well-marked trails, great views from the top. Conveniently located off I93, exit 28, 3 miles.
We have hiked Welch and Dickey often, with children (over 8 years old), with dogs and grandpas. It is a moderately difficult hike of about 3 hours. However, we like to take a break at the top have a snack and enjoy the views - which are amazing - so we can take 3.5 to 4 hours. You don't usually... 更多
This hike yields incredible views for a reasonable amount of effort and challenge. The terrain varied which made it interesting and there are rewarding reviews at several points along the way. Be careful of "illegal" trail markings though. We started following some "illegal" trail markings after we reached the highest point and ended up coming down the mountain a very... 更多
I hiked this loop with a friend in just about 3 hours. The views from Welch Mountain and Dickey Mountain are both really great--there are slabs near/at the top of each that provide almost completely open views, unblocked by trees. The only aspect of the hike that could be tricky is to hike up the exposed slabs in wet conditions,... 更多
